USAID Establishes “Twinning” between Malaysian and Indian Water Utilities to Pilot Continuous Water Supply in India. The USAID ECO-Asia program established a utility-to-utility “twinning” arrangement between Ranhill Utilities Berhad of Malaysia and Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) of India to facilitate the exchange of experience in promoting continuous water supply during a visit to Badlapur by senior Ranhill managers on April 12-14, 2008. During the exchange, Ranhill and MJP signed a Letter of Intent, and visited the water supply operations of Badlapur, a town of 160,000 people near Mumbai. Ranhill also trained 30 MJP engineers on managing water loss, and key elements for maintaining continuous water supply.
