Building a Cleaner Future for Coal
This report looks at Huainan City, in northern Anhui Province, an important energy center in China. Huainan’s economic development is closely linked to power generation, coal mining, and the chemical industry, and as a result the city has experienced severe environmental problems. The report provides concrete recommendations on how to improve monitoring and compliance efforts to reduce overall emissions. It is expected that the lessons learned from this study can be applied to other cities in the province, as well as to other parts of China.
